Place of meeting was chosen very carefully - it's here in Belarussian Polessie Sporovo and Zvanets Mires where the world biggest Aquatic Warbler population is breeding. From 27th to 29th of July 2009 representatives of Polish AW LIFE project were sharing experience with MSF-Belarus Project, APB BirdlLife Belarus, Belarusian National Academy of Science, "Polessie" UNDP GEF Project and Reserve administration.
During the field-visit participants could realize that reasons of AW habitat degradation here are similar to Polish - mainly overgrowing as a result of land abandonment and uncontrolled water level fluctuations in AW breeding season.
They were also presented local mowing equipment, basing on the peat - damaging wheel tractors.
Experts were discussing a need of implementing new technology using caterpillar-vehicles. Very helpful here were experiences of a couple of polish inventors that designed Ratrak-harvester for Biabrza Valley mowing in AW LIFE project. They also helped to discuss an optimal mowing scheme as well as possibilities of biomass removal.
